Monitoring the cooling circuits on the welding guns is essential to prevent overheating and ensure consistent welding quality. Spot welding of body parts in automotive production produces high temperatures that require reliable cooling of the welding guns. Overheating can cause the tip to melt and break onto the welded part. A solution is required to reliably prevent quality defects, wear or even downtime.
Solution:
Turck's FS+ flow sensor monitors both the flow and temperature of the cooling medium for double safety. Thanks to its calorimetric measuring principle, no additional temperature sensor is required. The 4-digit alphanumeric display optionally displays the flow or temperature of the medium, so operators can see the state of the cooling circuit at a glance. A color-coded LED display clearly displays process values. The Auto Detection function automatically detects whether a PNP or NPN signal is required. A Max/Min Teach allows operators to easily adjust the current flow rate control in a few seconds and ensures efficient low-flow-flow control control control. 1.1.

Offline tests shorten commissioning time
Machine manufacturers achieve further acceleration via the testing of machine modules and skids that are already in their own production area. Thanks to the integrated TBEN-I/O module control functions, Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) can even be carried out offline, without connecting to downstream system control modules. Due to their integrated ARGEE logic software, TURCK's I/O components enable the simulation of live operations by emulating the inputs of connection machines. If I/O modules with ARGEE are not a viable option, TURCK offers a complete control system programmable with CODESYS 3, which includes an IP67-rated TBEN-PLC controller and supports the three protocols in the multiprotocol standards.
IP67 components and quick connectors reduce wiring costs
The high degree of protection provided by the TBEN family also accelerates plant commissioning. Thanks to IP67 protection, the construction and wiring of large control cabinets can be minimized. In conjunction with quick connectors, only process connections, power supply and network cables need to be connected on site. Realistically, not all components are always available with IP67 protection, but control cabinet construction is significantly minimized or can be largely preassembled. With TURCK's new IP67-rated PSU67 power supply units, switch cabinets are no longer required to provide a power supply.
Multiprotocol I/O systems for all zones, degrees of protection, levels of availability
The TURCK multiprotocol device product series has expanded over the years. For example, customers who want the flexibility of a modular system will find these system solutions for installation in control cabinets or directly in the field with BL20 and BL67. If I/O blocks are required, TURCK offers devices for cabinet-free installation directly on the machine via the TBEN family, or I/O blocks for installation in protective housings via the FEN20 series.
If an application in hazardous areas requires maximum availability and configuration options during operation, users can select a system from the excom product series, which also supports the three multiprotocol networks with the latest Ethernet gateways; both as a system for installation in Zone 2 and as an N-series for installation in the safe area.
Recording of operating parameters with TURCK sensor technology
Van Hooste uses various sensors from TURCK: an IO-Link pressure transmitter from the PT series, whose measured values are then adjusted to the pump's flow rate. Temperature sensors of the TS700 series monitor the operating temperature of the pump to prevent overheating. In addition, an encoder acts as a speed sensor to ensure that the pump always operates within the specified speed range to ensure that the fish pass gently.
In addition to TURCK sensors, sensors from other manufacturers have also been integrated into the system. The S15C converters from Turck's partner Banner Engineering are used to ensure that their analog output signals (current and voltage signals) can also be integrated into the IO-Link communication system. These converters convert the analog signals into standardized IO-Link data so that they can be processed by the TURCK I/O modules.

Modularization and standardization
The interfaces are crucial for the high flexibility that comes with modularization. The standardization of these systems ensures that skids can be replaced and combined. Equipped with TURCK's multiprotocol gateway, your modules are automatically connected to any end-customer control system. This means that you only need one gateway model – no matter for which customer. Thanks to IO-Link or RFID, handling is easier than ever. This will shorten your delivery times and enable you to meet your customers' needs more quickly.
What is MTP?
MTP stands for Module Type Package and refers to a standard for the modularization of plants. The modules have decentralized intelligence and provide your services in a standardized manner. MTP files act as a device driver. The higher level, the Process Orchestration Layer (POL), can detect the function of the MTP modules and build their process control accordingly. MTP thus considerably reduces the engineering effort required for modular systems. MTP is the final milestone for the construction of a real plug-and-produce plant.
What is Multiprotocol Ethernet?
TURCK's multiprotocol devices automatically adapt to the Ethernet protocol spoken in the network – and that's the case every time they start up. Multiprotocol devices support the protocols PROFINET, Modbus TCP and EtherNet/IP. TURCK's I/O offering is also available almost consistently with multiprotocol technology, including compact block I/O modules and flexible modular systems – each for use in a control cabinet (IP20) or for use directly in the field (IP67). TURCK offers multi-protocol devices for its BL20 series gateways for control cabinet installation and for the BL67 series for field installation. IP20 and IP67 block I/O modules including the space-saving BL compact series are also available as multi-protocol devices.
Multiprotocol Ethernet gateways and block I/Os
TURCK offers powerful solutions to efficiently record data flow and to prepare existing machines and products for the future. Thanks to key technologies in the fields of fieldbus, RFID, sensor technology or connectivity, such as NAT routing, IO-Link or multiprotocol Ethernet, TURCK's solutions can be used without any problems for the interaction between OT and IT. While RFID and IO-Link contribute to greater flexibility and process reliability, the diagnostic data of a module is passed on to the controller via IO-Link for quality assurance purposes, for example. Thanks to RFID or IO-Link, the modules can also be detected more quickly in the control system via the multiprotocol gateway.

Benefits: why decentralized automation with ARGEE and MARGEE is worth it
Whether it's a flowchart or structured text: These benefits of decentralized automation with FLC technology apply equally to ARGEE and MARGEE.
With the NI5DS, TURCK introduces an inductive double sheet sensor that detects double-fed sheets from one side. This reduces cycle time because robots do not have to transport the sheets to an additional inspection station. The sensor can be adjusted for all types of metal and various sheet thicknesses, allowing it to be adapted to the specific application. The detection range is 1 to 12 mm; 3 to 5 mm is recommended. The M30 stainless steel tubular housing features a ceramic coating and protects the sensor from welding sparks.
Configuration and measured values via IO-Link
The NI5DS-EG30F-IOL8X-H1141/S3709 transmits measured values and configuration data via IO-Link and can be connected to any IO-Link master. There is no need for a costly external evaluation unit, as required by other solutions for double-sheet detection. Fifteen pre-installed material configurations are available, and TURCK maintains a database of additional materials. Users set the material, sheet thickness, and switching thresholds via the IODD and switch between normally open and normally closed functions. Two programmable switching outputs signal the presence of one sheet and two sheets separately. The raw measurement values are also included in the process data.
Use in the press shop and the body shop
Oil and vacuum cause raw sheet metal and finished metal parts to stick together. If a double sheet goes unnoticed, it can be costly: In the best-case scenario, only a single component—such as a door—needs to be replaced. If the double sheet is located in the load-bearing body structure, the entire vehicle is scrapped. In the worst-case scenario, it damages the press or the tooling. The NI5DS inspects the sheets in the press and in the body shop. Its single-sided detection design also fits into tight installation spaces. Compared to alternative methods for detecting double sheets, installation is simpler. In addition to the automotive industry, the sensor is suitable for press manufacturers and metalworking companies in general.
Innovative technologies with artificial intelligence are rapidly changing industrial manufacturing and intralogistics, and image processing is at the forefront of this development. Traditional image processing requires a new instruction for every deviation. Although this is precise, in practice it is often slow and not very scalable. TURCK's AI-based TIV (TURCK Intelligent Vision) camera breaks with this principle. It learns from sample images, independently detects patterns and differences, and transfers what it has learned to new situations. Just a few images are enough to reliably distinguish between good and bad conditions or different classes. Adjustments to products or test characteristics can be integrated at any time through retraining, without the need for expert knowledge. This reduces false alarms and makes tests reliable, even if components differ only minimally in appearance.
A decisive advantage: Process knowledge remains with the user. What is considered "good" or "bad" is defined by the production itself; the camera simply learns the difference. In practice, this dramatically shortens commissioning time. While complex, rule-based inspections often take weeks, a typical completeness check can be set up in no time with TIV. The camera makes decisions based on what the customer shows it. TURCK provides the platform: the process provides the knowledge.
Inspection rounds in the water treatment plant
The water treatment plant is critical for regulatory compliance and reliable operation. In the past, employees had to physically inspect the facilities on a regular basis and measure values at numerous checkpoints to prevent environmental violations and detect emerging technical issues at an early stage. Today, these time-consuming, repetitive tasks are handled by the inspection robot. It performs three inspection rounds per day at 150 checkpoints across eight different routes. During these rounds, data such as pump and motor temperatures, oil levels and potential leaks are captured accurately and reliably. Using artificial intelligence, the robot detects deviations from the target state and automatically triggers an alarm. The robot dog operates around the clock and returns to its station after each inspection round to recharge its battery.
