Vehicle Identification
TURCK’s UHF RFID solution reliably tracks vehicles across all departments using just one data carrier

benefits
- Cross-union identification using a single data carrier
- Maximum detection rate through polarization switching
- Minimal installation effort thanks to Power over Ethernet (PoE) and integrated I/Os
Challenge
A key challenge in digital production and logistics in the automotive industry is reliably identifying all vehicles across all independent departments. Because different identification technologies are often used, connectivity is severely limited, and centralized data collection is difficult. In addition, important information is still sometimes recorded on paper, which reduces the transparency and efficiency of production processes and increases maintenance costs.
Solution
The use of robust UHF RFID solutions enables the identification of vehicle bodies and body parts across all production lines. A high-temperature-resistant RFID tag accompanies each vehicle throughout the production process, enabling continuous identification and tracking from body construction through delivery. The Q150 UHF RFID reader with polarization switching ensures that tags are reliably detected across multiple polarization planes, which can increase detection rates—especially in metallic environments such as production lines. The devices can be connected directly to control systems via Ethernet without additional interfaces, which significantly simplifies installation and reduces costs. These features enable more efficient production control and enhance investment security, as the RFID reader can be flexibly deployed in various network architectures and does not require a separate power supply thanks to Power over Ethernet.

“With our RFID solution, we enable end-to-end, reliable vehicle identification across many production steps.”
