TURCK’s CMVT-M8TE vibration sensor outputs raw acceleration data at up to 64 kHz via IO-Link and enables frequency analysis in the TAS vibration monitor without a controller
TURCK is expanding its CMVT vibration sensor series with the single-axis CMVT-M8TE for condition monitoring of rotating machinery, such as drives, gearboxes, pumps, centrifuges, or fans. The sensor outputs the raw acceleration data from its MEMS sensing element via the BLOB transfer of the IO-Link specification, rather than internally compressing it to a threshold value. At a sampling rate of up to 64 kHz, it transmits up to 320,000 samples per recording. This allows users to determine whether an imbalance, a misaligned shaft, or incipient bearing damage is causing the vibration. The sensor evaluates vibrations in accordance with DIN ISO 10816-3 and additionally provides a bearing condition rating in four levels according to DIN ISO 13373-3.
Frequency analysis with a single mouse click—no control program required
TURCK has integrated BLOB transfer and Fast Fourier transform into the vibration monitor of the TURCK Automation Suite (TAS), which is available for free download. A single mouse click triggers the recording. The monitor displays the cyclic parameters, the raw data on the time axis, and its spectrum on the frequency axis. All values can be exported as a CSV file. For an initial measurement, all you need is a sensor, an IO-Link master, and a laptop. The BLOB transfer provides a snapshot within a configurable time window of just a few seconds.
Three implementation levels for integration into the system
The user decides how deeply the sensor is integrated into the automation system. The two PNP outputs switch independently as soon as a configured event occurs and directly control indicator lights. The parameter values are continuously transmitted to the controller via IO-Link or as a 4…20 mA signal. Users can also trigger the BLOB transfer from within the control program and process the raw data there. The sensor can be easily mounted using an M8 screw thread, adapters for other thread sizes, or a magnetic mount.
