Safety Barriers

IMXK interface devices can be installed in compact switch cabinets above process modules and transmit signals from intrinsically safe field devices

Modular process plants use compact switch cabinets to save space and enable flexible production capacities. However, classic interface devices are often too deep for the flat housings needed in confined spaces. At the same time, intrinsically safe signals must be reliably transmitted and functionally safe circuits up to SIL2 must be implemented. Solutions must therefore be compact, meet the highest safety standards and be flexible for use worldwide without compromising reliability, precision and speed.
The IMXK interface devices from TURCK have been specially developed for compact switch cabinets in modular process plants. With a depth of just 77 mm, they fit in flat protective housings and provide safe Ex isolation for sensors and actuators up to Zone 0/Zone 22. IMXK12 can be installed in Zone 2. Global approvals (ATEX, IECEx, NEPSI, cULus, INMETRO, Kosha, TIIS) mean that they can be used worldwide, which facilitates the international use of modular skids. The IMXK12 range includes isolating switching amplifiers (IMXK12-DI), solenoid drivers ( IMXK12-DO), analog output isolators (IMXK12-AO) and isolating transducers (IMXK12-AI) for analog signals. All devices enable safe signal transmission and meet SIL2 requirements. Their wide input voltage range of 10…30 VDC also makes them suitable for use with solar power or mobile energy sources, for example on vehicles with an on-board electrical system. The compact design saves space, while simple integration speeds up commissioning. The IMXK product series thus offers a future-proof solution for flexible, modular process plants.

"Our IMXK product series is a compact and flexible solution for Ex isolation in modular process plants. These future-proof products can be used anywhere in the world."
