Level measurement in a dip painting plant
LRS+ radar sensors measure the distance and fill level of cathodic dip baths from up to 10 meters away

Benefits
- The LRS+ sensors reliably suppress interference pulses to prevent incorrect measurements and increase system availability
- Precise fill level detection from a long distance
- Reliable commissioning with the TURCK radar monitor
Challenge
In automotive production, workpieces must be fully immersed in a cathodic dip bath (CDC), which requires precise fill level detection. Strong electrical currents make the use of conventional immersion sensors more difficult, so contactless measurement is required. The sensor must also be able to reliably suppress interfering reflections from metal structures such as the conveyor rods.
Solution
The LRS radar sensor measures the fill level of the dip bath without contact from a distance of up to 10 meters. This long range means that it can be mounted above the conveying system and accurately detect the liquid level without being affected by vehicle body parts or metal supports.
The TURCK radar monitor can be used to analyze and selectively suppress interference signals directly in the browser-based application to ensure error-free measurement. Critical fill levels are indicated by the two-color display changing from green to red, allowing employees to immediately detect deviations. The robust radar technology offers a reliable, low-maintenance solution for process control in cathodic dip coating.

"The LRS provides precise, error-free fill level measurement, even under the challenging conditions of cathodic dip coating."
