Challenge
When handling goods in ports and logistics centers, containers must be loaded efficiently but also safely. Collisions between reach trucks and containers can cause expensive damage and delay operations. A reliable distance measurement system must monitor picker movements and provide timely warnings to prevent accidents. At the same time, the solution must be robust enough to withstand harsh environmental conditions such as moisture, dust and mechanical stress.
Solution
TURCK's RU300U-M30E ultrasonic sensors ensure precise distance measurement between the picker and the container. With a range of up to 3 meters and two independent switching ranges, they enable accurate proximity control. The sensor detects containers early on and automatically reduces the speed of the picker to avoid collisions.
Thanks to its robust metal housing, the sensor can withstand harsh environmental conditions such as moisture, UV radiation and salt water exposure. It is also shock-resistant up to 100 g, making it ideal for use in port logistics. Simple adjustment via teach buttons or the teach line facilitates integration into existing systems. The robust ultrasonic sensor technology ensures trouble-free operation, increases safety and reduces downtime due to collisions to a minimum.
