Automated climate control in mobile chicken coops

TURCK's CMTH condition -monitoring sensor reliably monitors temperature and humidity in the coop

Preventive Maintenance, Condition Monitoring Sensors, Power Supplies for the Field IP67, TAS Cloud

Benefits

  • Cost-effective integration of two measured variables in one sensor

  • Easy retrofitting without switch cabinets thanks to IP67 degree of protection

  • Data view and control also possible via mobile terminals

  • Complete solution from a single source

Challenge

In mobile chicken coops, temperature and humidity fluctuate greatly depending on the weather and the season. High values impair animal welfare and promote mold growth. Reliable monitoring and control of climatic conditions is necessary to ensure an optimal coop climate. A decentralized solution for automatic regulation of ventilation flaps and air conditioning units increases comfort for the animals and simplifies coop management

Solution

TURCK's CMTH sensor continuously measures temperature and humidity and reports deviations from the target range. In combination with TURCK's I/O systems, controllers and HMI panels, coop climate control can be automated. Ventilation flaps, fans and air conditioning units can be controlled directly to ensure optimal conditions.

By connecting to the TAS Cloud, farmers can monitor values in real time and make adjustments via mobile devices or PCs. The cloud dashboards provide a clear overview of all relevant data from multiple barns. This enables temperature and humidity to be efficiently controlled at all times.

Robust IP67 power supply units enable installation directly in the barn without the need for a control cabinet. In combination with wireless communication and a self-sufficient power supply such as photovoltaics, mobile barns can be operated flexibly. This improves animal welfare, reduces manual intervention and ensures sustainable, automated climate control.

"With our networked sensor solution, farmers can continuously monitor temperature and humidity in the coop to ensure optimum conditions and better animal health."
