Challenge
In the pharmaceutical industry, seamless sample tracking and complete documentation are essential for meeting regulatory requirements such as those of the FDA. Unannounced inspections make it necessary to record every sample accurately and traceably. At the same time, data must be stored centrally and be available for audits to ensure operational safety.
Solution
The sample- to -cloud solution from Turck Vilant Systems connects IT and OT and ensures consistent, automated sample tracking via UHF RFID. After collection, each sample is given an RFID tag with a unique ID that stores all relevant information. During transport through the building, the samples are recorded at RFID gates so that their position and direction of movement can be tracked at all times. In the laboratory, the sample is identified by a UHF reader to ensure that it is in the right place. Proper disposal is also documented by RFID monitoring to prevent samples from returning to production. All recorded data is stored on the Turck Vilant server in the local company network and is available for central data lakes or audit systems. This enables seamless monitoring and documentation and ensures high data integrity to reliably meet legal requirements.
