Challenge
In production and logistics environments, protected areas such as cabinets or rooms must be reliably secured against unauthorized access. Traditional cylinder locks are often impractical in such applications, as different keys may be required for multiple locks. In addition, they offer only a limited level of security. A cost-effective and secure solution is needed that is easy to retrofit and flexible to use.
Solution
The IO-Link read/write devices in standard I/O mode (SIO) offer effective and simple access control for sensitive areas. An SLIX2 chip and password-protected operation ensure that only authorized persons are granted access. The chip cannot be duplicated without a password , which prevents tampering. The IO-Link reader does not require an additional PLC or interface, only a power supply. It can directly control a relay or door lock via its switching output.
Thanks to its IP67 protection rating, installation is quick and does not require a switch box, making it easy to retrofit. The self-sufficient solution is compatible with the TN-M18-IOL2, TN-M30-IOL2 and TN-Q40-IOL2 reader models and is ideal for securing cabinets, access doors or sensitive areas. The combination of user-friendliness and increased security makes the system the optimal choice for sensitive areas.
