IIoT power supply for excom I/O system

New voltage modules enable predictive maintenance as well as monitoring and optimization for high-availability applications – also in ATEX-Zone 2

Hazardous Areas (Ex Area), I/O Systems, Fieldbus Technology

Benefits

  • Compatible with existing power supply modules, including redundant configurations

  • Standardized system landscape from the safe area to Zone 1/21

  • Investment protection, as the new power supply can also be used in existing applications

TURCK replaces the power supplies of its high-availability excom I/O system with two variants for IIoT data. The PSM24-3G.1 supplies excom systems in Zone 2/22 with voltage, while the PSM24-N.1 supplies excom systems in the safe area (N system). This ensures compatibility with the previous voltage modules. Supply redundancies can also be built up in combination with old and new modules. The additional IIoT data from the new modules is communicated via the Ethernet gateway modules.

IIoT data and investment protection

With the new power supply modules, TURCK ensures that the I/O system can be used for a long time. Compatibility with previous voltage modules and excom systems enables existing excom installations to be upgraded with IIoT functions. The systems output diagnostic data in accordance with NAMUR NE107 via the Ethernet gateway. Process data can also be accessed via parallel read access without affecting the integrity of the process communication. This data can be used to feed predictive maintenance systems or derive monitoring and optimization (M+O) measures.

Previous system advantages are retained

excom is considered the most compact I/O system among the redundant systems for high-availability applications and hazardous areas. Another feature that distinguishes excom from comparable systems is the closed system approval. This means that excom systems can be expanded by individual components without requiring re-approval. Thanks to these properties, the system has been in use worldwide for decades in numerous applications in the oil and gas, chemical, and pharmaceutical industries.
