Inductive ring sensors with IO-Link
TURCK’s flexibly configurable W20 ring sensors provide process and diagnostic data for feeding and counting tasks
Benefits
- Reduced variety of variants thanks to flexible configuration
- Easy commissioning and retrofitting
- Additional transparency through process and diagnostic data
- Reliable detection even in tight spaces
TURCK is expanding its portfolio with inductive IO-Link ring sensors for the reliable detection of small metal parts. The highly configurable BIxR-W20 sensors address typical tasks in feeding systems, conveyor systems, and machining centers, replacing conventional variants with fixed functionality with a standardized, IO-Link-capable device concept. Users benefit from a reduction in the number of variants as well as additional diagnostic and process data, which is available directly via IO-Link.
Greater flexibility simplifies inventory management and project planning
A key feature of the sensors—which are available in eight ring diameters ranging from 6 to 50 mm—is their flexible configurability: sensitivity, switching logic, output type, and static or dynamic operating mode can be set via both IO-Link and a teach adapter. In addition to process data, the devices provide comprehensive diagnostic information—such as operating hours, switching cycles, and temperatures—that supports condition monitoring and predictive maintenance.
Typical applications include feeding systems for automatic screwdriving machines, part counting and sorting in conveyor systems, as well as wire breakage and jam detection. In dynamic mode, the ring sensors detect even very small and fast-moving parts with an adjustable pulse length and high repeatability.
